Morpho has operated in Colombia since 1997, its first project being the Civil Register modernization and ID card production. Through the years, Morpho has increased its reputation as an expert in identity management, digital security, e-documents, smart transactions and detection solutions, within the private and the public sectors. The Colombian subsidiary is now the competence center for the whole Latin American area that ensured an optimized regional organization focused on Human Resources Management and quality process, aiming the customers' satisfaction, Morpho's activities growth of in the region.
The main Colombian project started when the Colombian government decided to launch an overall Identity and Civil Registry project aiming to identify the whole Colombian population. This project had two separate scopes: renovating the identification system and setting up a civil registration system, including the collection and storage of citizens' biometric and alphanumeric data, comparison operations on the biographical and biometric information, and issuance of a national ID card for both adults and minors.
Since 1999, Morpho supports the criminal investigation staff through AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) biometric platforms for the main Criminal Justice entities: The Technical Investigation Corps from the Attorney General's Office and the Criminal Investigation and Interpol Unit from the National Police.
For the payment market, Morpho provides the full service spectrum of digital security solutions in Colombia. Morpho's state-of-the-art production and three personalization center offer lamination and printing of PVC cards with a capacity of more than 50 million cards / year, as well as milling, embedding and personalization with a capacity of 30 million units per year. The production factory is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, VISA and MasterCard certified; furthermore it has certification for dual interface cards production. Morpho has a strong market share, especially in the Colombian payment market. Morpho is also the producer of the current driver license for the Colombian government.
Regarding the detection market, Morpho has been working with two distributors, Magna Seguridad Electrónica and Robotec Colombia, offering a reinforced local presence. Detection systems for explosives, narcotics and other threats are being delivered to the Colombian Army, the Colombian Air Force, oil companies and government entities and private buildings.
