Quantum Magnetics, Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Morpho Detection, Inc.) (QM) is an ISO-9001 registered research and development company that conducts application-oriented research and development for defense, security and commercial customer applications at its 64,000 square foot facility in San Diego, Ca.

With advanced degrees in science and engineering, and experience in the application of electromagnetic technologies to security challenges, the QM team uses its Quality Management System to meet or exceed industry performance standards. Advanced sensor instrumentation development at QM is based on its Quadrupole Resonance technology, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, as well as other electromagnetic techniques.

Quantum Magnetics’ San Diego facility consists of laboratories, assembly areas and administrative spaces to accommodate a wide range of specialized research activities. The main R&D laboratory houses experimental workstations to test specific QR/NMR phenomena, shielded rooms for measurements in Radio Frequency Interference-quiet environments and a fully-equipped electronic test laboratory. For data analysis and mathematical modeling, QM has an extensive computer network and technical software.

The QM site also includes a unique explosives test facility, which is heavily reinforced and has advanced safety features to permit explosives detection studies in the urban environment. The facility provides 4,500 square feet of usable floor space for a wide variety of laboratory experiments and systems testing. Monitoring systems and methods are also in place for conducting investigations using high explosives. The lab’s machine shop is suitable for prototype and development work. QM has obtained the appropriate federal and state permits to store explosives on site. A chemical facility is also available for working with and storing hazardous and/or flammable materials.
