Over 20 States Use MorphoTrust's AutoTest and RoadTest

Automated Knowledge and Skills Testing Solutions Reduce Fraud and Streamline Operations for State Motor Vehicle Agencies

MorphoTrust USA (Safran), a leading U.S. provider of identity solutions and services, announced a series of contracts for its automated knowledge and skills testing solutions for state motor vehicle agencies. The North Dakota Department of Transportation recently implemented MorphoTrust™ RoadTest and the Georgia Department of Driver Services has awarded a contract for implementation in 2013. In addition, the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has expanded its MorphoTrust™ AutoTest solution statewide. Similarly, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has contracted to implement both AutoTest and RoadTest in 2013. All contracts cover solutions provided by MorphoTrust over the next three to five years.

AutoTest was developed to meet the strict federal requirements for commercial driver license knowledge testing as regulated by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration while providing state motor vehicle agencies with the ability to customize and expand testing programs while reducing opportunities for fraud. AutoTest's highly-secure, browser-based system is used by 18 states and provinces in North America for automation of the driver knowledge testing process. AutoTest delivers millions of exams each year in over 900 testing locations with over 3,000 testing stations.

RoadTest is MorphoTrust's automated skills testing and tracking solution for use by state motor vehicle agency staff while administering the driver road skills test. Used by eight jurisdictions utilizing over 200 tablets, RoadTest offers state-of-the-art testing on a tablet computer, replacing paper-based processes and automating scoring. RoadTest reduces the time associated with re-keying data in enterprise systems and the costs of physically distributing test copies across an organization. Its advanced handwriting recognition algorithms allow examiners to capture notes and signatures, and yields highly accurate automatic handwriting recognition results. In addition, RoadTest helps eliminate testing fraud with features such as GPS tracking and photo capture.

Open, industry-wide association aims to promote Secure Digital Identity Services and convenient interoperable secure eDocuments

St. Paul, Amsterdam and Paris, May 13, 2013 - Leading secure eDocuments companies 3M, Gemalto, Morpho (Safran) and Oberthur Technologies announced the formation of the Secure Identity Alliance, a grouping dedicated to developing the usage of government-issued eDocuments (identity, health cards, driving licenses and ePassports in particular) for increased security, and to encourage deployment of secure convenient online services strengthening the privacy of the end-users.

The Secure Identity Alliance's major objectives are to accelerate the transition to smart eDocuments and enable an open, interoperable and efficient roll-out of trusted eGovernment online services by:

Describing and promoting use cases of convenient value-added eGovernment services,
Sharing experiences and best practices between industry and governments modernizing their services, in particular towards ensuring the privacy of the end-users' personal information,
Promoting standardization of relevant and appropriate industry specifications,
Making recommendations on the most up-to-date means to properly address the governments identity and privacy challenges, including eDocument hardware, software and secure printing technologies, materials and physical security expertise, in order to deliver the level of confidence and assurance needed for the rapid adoption of eServices that can be trusted by citizens,
Providing consistent reference information on security, identity and privacy challenges in a transparent manner.

Secure Identity Alliance positions itself as a trusted partner for governmental agencies and public entities defining their eDocument approach and implementing associated eGovernment services. Aiming at establishing interoperable systems, and defining and promoting best practices that can be adopted across the world, the Alliance members will be involved in focused workgroups.

Production, R&D facility for advanced explosives detection systems to protect global air travel

Newark, Calif. – May 2, 2013

Morpho (Safran), through its subsidiary Morpho Detection, Inc., today welcomed Congressman Mike Honda (CA-17) at the Morpho Detection offices in Newark, California.

Employing more than 200 people in Newark, Morpho Detection's Bay-area offices and manufacturing facility houses the Morpho Computed Tomography (CT) Center of Excellence research and development lab. As a result, some of the most widely deployed CT-based solutions used globally to screen checked baggage for dangerous explosives and other threats are developed and manufactured in Newark, among them Morpho Detection's CTX™ automated explosives detection systems (EDS).

As part of his visit, Rep. Honda met with employees and viewed the production area of the CTX line of EDS. The most widely deployed in the world, with nearly 2,000 units assembled, Morpho Detection's CTX EDS screens checked baggage at the busiest airports in the U.S. and throughout the world.
