Morpho is an established expert in criminal identification in Australia. Since 1999, Morpho has been helping the Australian Government provide the NAFIS, a long standing relationship that enables Australia to benefit from one the of the world's largest palmprint databases. In April 2001, Australia formally launched its new NAFIS as part of the CrimTrac services. The new system was developed and implemented by Morpho to completely replace the original AFIS established in 1987.
All Australian Police jurisdictions are equipped with LiveScan Fingerprint scanners and can transmit scans directly to the Australian Federal Government agency in Canberra, where the database is managed. As part of its end-to-end criminal identification solution, Morpho also supplies LiveScans and LiveScan-related services, with Morpho devices currently in operational deployment with most Australian Police jurisdictions. Scanned fingerprint images are automatically checked and the relevant identity information is sent back to police officers.
From a border control perspective, Morpho has been revolutionizing border crossing in the region with the SmartGate system. SmartGate uses facial recognition technology to allow travelers to go through Morpho e-gates at all major airports across Australia and New Zealand. The project was initiated by Australian Customs and Border Protection in 2004 (initial development) and was extended to with New Zealand Customs getting onboard in 2009.
Morpho also delivers high-security government identity solutions, such as the Identity Management System FRS to NSW Roads and Maritime Services.
In addition, Morpho is one of the world's leading makers of gaming terminals, which it delivers to Australian lottery operator Tatts.
For financial institutions, Morpho offers a complete portfolio ranging from classic chip card technologies, cutting-edge mobile payment and TSM services to innovative online payment security, eID and leading biometric identification and authentication solutions.
