Since 1989, the Toronto Police Services (TPS) has been a customer of Morpho. With a population of 5 million, Toronto is the largest city in Canada. Throughout the years, TPS and Morpho have established an unparalleled relationship that has led to multiple technology refreshes to enhance its system. In competitive procurements, Morpho was selected in 1997, 2003 and most recently in 2011 to provide the TPS with its latest generation MorphoBIS. The upgrade included MBIS 1.3 software, workstations, data migration, interfaces and disaster recovery. Morpho delivered an end-to-end biometric solution, ranging from arrest processing at the records management system and live scan processing to AFIS enrollment and local searching as well as RTID submission for identify verification against the National AFIS.
Morpho installed the first Morpho Biometric Identification Solution (MorphoBIS) in 2011 for the Calgary and Edmonton Police Services. This system includes high accuracy, speed, functionality, reliability and decision-making capabilities. Calgary Police Services uses MorphoBIS servers, two MultiPrint Stations (Expert Workstations), and two Latent Expert Workstations. Edmonton Police Services has two MultiPrint Stations and two Latent Expert Workstations. The MorphoBIS system performs tenprint, palmprint, and latent searches as well as submissions to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Real Time Identification (RTID) system.
In 2012, Morpho was selected to provide the Sûreté du Québec with a new MorphoBIS system for criminal identification. Morpho's technology was selected after a competitive technology evaluation in which Morpho ranked first among all competing vendors. Morpho performed data migration of over 400,000 person records, 63,000 unsolved latents and 600,000 mugshots.
