Morpho Detection Receives TSA Delivery Order for 15 CTX Explosives Detection Systems

Newark, Calif. – February 2, 2012 – Morpho Detection, Inc. (MDI), the explosives and narcotics detection business of Morpho, Safran group's security unit, today announced it has received a delivery order under a U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) new equipment contract for its explosives detection systems (EDS) valued at more than $17 million.

The CTX 9800 and CTX 9400 are a significant part of Morpho Detection's industry-leading portfolio of Computed Tomography-based explosives detection systems (EDS). The company has nearly 2,000 EDS deployed to airports around the world, double the EDS deployments of all other manufacturers, combined.

"Morpho Detection is pleased the TSA has chosen our CTX 9800 and 9400 EDS to help meet its checked bag screening needs," said Brad Buswell, president and CEO, Morpho Detection, Inc. "The CTX 9400 and 9800 explosives detection systems customize CT-based imaging technology, originally developed for healthcare, for a wide range of airport needs and aviation security challenges."

The CTX 9400 and 9800 systems use Computed Tomography (CT) imaging technology to create images of each bag. The systems then automatically compare the contents of the bag with the properties of known threat explosives using a series of algorithms.

Morpho Detection's unique Clarity technology, found in the CTX 9800, enables it to screen checked luggage at higher speeds while delivering high-resolution 3D images.

The CTX 9800 DSi was first deployed by the TSA to Mineta San José International Airport where eight units are integrated with the highly advanced baggage handling system.
