Rachid Boudyaf

Systems Design engineer / Safran Power
"Our team won the Patented Innovation prize from Safran in 2010".

What is your job?
I'm an engineer with the Systems Design department at Safran Power*. Most recently, I've been working extensively on the electrification of different functions in aircraft engine nacelles.

What motivates you the most in your work?
Undoubtedly the request for proposals (RFP) phase, because it includes both technical and commercial aspects, while also requiring regular contacts with the customer. Building a proposal step by step, and striking the perfect balance between performance and cost, is fascinating. The creative side of my work is essential. Our team won the Patented Innovation award from Safran in 2010, and I had the honor of receiving the Youth Award from 3AF (Aeronautics and Astronautics Association of France).

You're the youngest engineer in the Systems Design department. How do you see your career development in the Group?
I joined the Group as an intern at Hispano-Suiza, first to work on test rigs. Since then, I've worked on electrifying systems in the propulsion assembly. Now matter how my career develops, I'd like to maintain my strong involvement on the technical side. I'd like to move more towards a development project to round out my experience in the Research & Technology and preliminary project phases. And I know that, at Safran I will soon have that opportunity!

*Safran Power is an operating unit of Hispano-Suiza, dedicated to all aspects of power electronics.
