Morpho in France

Hall of Safran Identity & Security at Issy-Les-Moulineaux

Morpho was created out of the company Sagem, which was founded in France in 1924. The company grew steadily over the years, acquiring numerous international companies. The umbrella brand Morpho was established in 2010.

Currently more than 1,600 employees work at Morpho in France. The head office of Morpho is based in Issy les Moulineaux. Almost half of the global workforce works in R&D, since the Osny site – which integrates one of the world's largest R&D centers specialized in identification technologies, including the development of cards, terminals and systems – employs 690 persons. A second R&D center based in Issy les Moulineaux is specialized in the development of detection systems. The production of terminals is located in Saint-Etienne-du Rouvray, a reference site for industrialization and the production of terminals and systems where more than 100,000 biometric terminals are produced per year.

The personalization of all types of smart card technology for banks, telecom and transport operators is handled in Craponne, where 40,000 smart cards are produced per day. This site is also the European data center for the deployment of the TSM (Trusted Service Management) platform.

The recent acquisition of Dictao, a leading publisher of software solutions for security and digital trust, will allow Morpho to guarantee more secure and convenient online transactions and thus confirming its leadership in the security market.

Morpho's unique expertise lies in providing cutting-edge security solutions for the civil identification, criminal justice and public security, transport and border control, critical infrastructure and digital ID and smart transaction markets.

The company addresses security requirements of individuals, governments, other institutions and businesses, managing large-scale projects and developing customized local solutions.

One of the highlights among the key projects of Morpho in France is the deployment of a cutting-edge AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) system for the French police forces, which has allowed the identification of perpetrators of crimes and misdemeanors since 1989.

Sas biométriques Morpho. A la clef : un gain de temps pour les passagers et une hausse de fréquentation pour les commerces. To secure French territory, Morpho provided Charles de Gaulle and Orly Airports in Paris and Marseille Airport with the French PARAFE (Passage Rapide Aux Frontières Extérieures) system. This system operates with automated control at the borders. Based on biometrics, it uses fingerprints to identify travelers. Since 2009 PARAFE has secured entry and exit to French territory while enabling an improved passenger experience by reducing waiting time.

Thanks to the deployment of new high-speed CTX 9800 DSi™ explosives detection systems (EDS) to screen hold baggage in Nice's Côte d'Azur International Airport, the airport has become the first in the continental EU to screen all passenger-checked baggage – referred to as Level 1 screening – with an advanced EDS to ensure more security.

Since 2002, Morpho has been supporting the French government in the French Automated Control Program (Le programme de Contrôle Automatisé, CA), which aims at reducing road accident casualties by modernizing the monitoring of road safety rules compliance.
